Our client builds and integrates world-class automation systems leveraging the use of controls systems, robotics and machine vision. They solve unique and challenging manufacturing problems for customers in industries including Food and Beverage, Automotive, Oil and Gas, and Consumer Packaged Goods, and they are searching for a Sr. Controls Engineer.  In this role, you will be involved in the design, programming and commissioning of controls systems solutions including PLC’s, HMI's, motion control, robotics and vision systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Technically, Controls Specialists will work on various stages of automation and control projects including electrical design, PLC programming, HMI design, SCADA systems, controls networks, Startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting/testing/debugging
  • Exercise Project Management skills by developing project schedules and budgets in collaboration with clients and internal project management resources, ensuring completion of all project deliverables to the satisfaction of the client while fostering a culture of safety
  • Provide specific technical expertise and guidance in the development of employee skills, acting as a mentor and coach for junior employees as a cohesive team player
  • Participate in planning sessions with the Branch and Business Development Manager that will identify opportunities for new proposals, drafting of proposals, and explain/negotiate proposals with clients as well as partake in client meetings to help solidify the company's position and increase client confidence in the team
  • Interface with customers and offer strong technical expertise and advisement as part of the project team

Qualifications:
  • Engineering graduate in Electrical, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, Systems Design or equivalent experience/technical degree. Professional Engineer designation a plus.
  • A minimum of 10+ years of experience with design, procurement, programming PLCs (PLC-5, SLC500, ControlLogix, Siemens, GE), HMI/SCADA Programming (Panelview, Wonderware, iFIX, WinCC), AutoCAD/Electrical Design, VFD’s, Vision systems, Motion Control, Robotics, Safety systems, Debug/Testing/Commissioning
  • Knowledge around manufacturing processes within the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, discrete manufacturing, and consumer packaging industry beneficial
  • Experience with network architecture design, system virtualization and AutoCAD/Electrical Design
  • Experience with various communications networks such as Ethernet, Fiber, Wireless, etc. using common industrial protocols such as DH+, DH485, Modbus, Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, etc. is an asset
  • A proven self-starter with a positive, “can-do” attitude who is motivated by solving complex challenges
