Job Summary / Function:
Direct and conduct engineering efforts related to the development and production of Ultrasonic Products including design, test, prototype and evaluation.   Ensure that all work is performed within FDA and Industrial standards where applicable and company product development procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ultrasonic Engineering
·        Design ultrasonic devices using piezoelectric materials per customer and / or internal requirements.
·        Creating and execution of Testing and Validation Technical reports and analysis of design
·        Research new opportunities and design for medical and industrial devices
·        Review technical information relating to the ultrasonic market
·        Train others in ultrasonic theory
·        Work with customers and management on technical questions and design related material.
·        Perform or direct experimentation/verification/validation activities to support product development
·        Lead/Support process development and design transfer activities to manufacturing
 
Administration
·        Attend staff meetings, report on projects
·        Monitor Project Progress
·        Assist in Development of Procedures and Policies
 
New Business Development
·        Review RFQs and provide evaluation of technical requirements
·        Provide or assist others in providing quotations
·        Work with potential customers
·        Review technical information relating to the ultrasonic market
·        Attend industry meetings to stay abreast of emerging technology
 
Documentation Generation and Approval
·        Author documentation, (drawings, procedures, technical reports, verification/validation/test protocols)
·        Review and approve engineering documentation
·        Conduct, review and/or attend design reviews
 
Miscellaneous
·        Complete required training in a timely manner
·        Assist other research and development staff with their duties as requested
·        Assist with other projects as requested by a member of management
 
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Physics or Engineering with 1-5 years’ experience; or Bachelor’s Degree and 3-8 years related experience and/or training.
All levels:
·      Excellent organizational, project management and & technical problem solving skills
·      Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equation, and permutations
·      Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis
·      Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
·      Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
·      Must be able to adapt to rapidly changing environment
·      Able to travel to customer sites, as required, to support sales and account management efforts
·      Strong computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office, Minitab and engineering / CAD software
·      Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
·      Effective communication skills with all levels of technical and operating personnel, both internal and external, via in person, phone and email
·      Must be willing and able to exercise inventiveness and independent judgment
·      Objects weighing up to 25 pounds are worked with, manipulated and lifted on a repeated basis.
·      Objects with small / complex design are worked with, manipulated and lifted on a repeated basis.
·      Electronics and or mechanical assembly medical device industry experience
·      The ability to rapidly acquire detailed knowledge of the specific systems used at MCG
 
Preferred Qualifications:
·      Working knowledge of Ultrasonics Design and Application
