Product Manager, Strategic New Products

Our client, a young and growing Medical Device company with an aggressive growth cycle, growing 35% YOY, just IPO'd, and is hiring the Product Manager for Strategic New Products who will focus on providing commercial input to the advancement of product concepts through the new product development process. The role encompasses both upstream and commercial responsibilities.

The successful candidate will have excellent and relevant marketing and brand management experience with the ability to work independently. Although the role is very hands-on, it will be important that the person has the intellectual capabilities to think strategically and conceptually and is able to see the vision and bring others along positively. The position therefore calls for a self-motivated manager with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills underpinned by strong planning and financial capabilities.

Product Manager Key Responsibilities:

  • Executing market research activities and frequently interacting with customers (voice of the customer, customer visits, attendance at industry society meetings, reviewing journal articles, etc.) to identify unmet customer needs.
  • Partnering with Product Development, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Sales, Finance and other key stakeholders to ensure successful product development programs. Responsible for developing the business case, identifying product requirements, providing input throughout the product development process and developing launch plans and materials.
  • Leading and executing impactful product launch plans through the development of the value proposition, pricing strategy, forecasting, introduction plan, product training plan (for both the salesforce & customers), marketing materials, selling tools and other materials in coordination with the downstream marketing teams and other stakeholders.
  • Developing the commercial strategy for products through portfolio management, customer targeting, pricing strategies and product lifecycle management.
  • Developing an understanding of reimbursement, regulatory, financial, clinical, customer segmentation, and competition.
  • Collaborating with marketing colleagues to plan trade show activities.

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated successful experience in developing and launching new products.
  • Proficient in financial analysis (typical examples: NPV, ROI, Pricing models, Forecasting, etc.).
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of the FDA 510K Clearance Process.


  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing. MBA strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in upstream marketing or product development role that includes some marketing success.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in medical devices or other related healthcare field.
