Senior PD Application & Technology Specialist

Immediate need in an ideal North New Jersey location for a Senior PD Application & Technology Specialist with Savory formulation experience. Ideal candidate will have the following credentials:

  • Apply principles of culinary arts and science to develop the formulas, processing procedures and temperature parameters of flavor key products; such as USDA meat and poultry flavors (regular & organic), vegetable flavors (natural/non-GMO & organic), vegetarian flavors (natural & non-GMO)
  • Formulate flavor keys to be approved by FDA, USDA-FSIS acceptable labels via Maillard flavor processing technology and enzymatic fermentations
  • Evaluate and revise formulas and processing conditions as required
  • Assist with the conversion of liquid flavor keys to simple, clean-label, spray dried flavors
  • Work in a team environment, teaching and sponsoring the further development of team mates
  • Keep updated on developments of flavor ingredients, formulations and processes
  • Offer trending and in-demand products and demos for our sales and trade show needs
  • Develop demos that help show best uses and applications for savory products
  • Engage in sensory support for the quality team as needed
  • Support the characterization of culinary reactions of products to transform into desired flavor keys and new and unique flavor concepts
  • Assist with sourcing suppliers, sourcing and building technical documents and product costing for raw materials used and the resulting finished flavor key
  • Work in a collaborative team environment with operations, regulatory, quality and marketing personnel
  • Be knowledgeable of flavor performance in savory applications, such as soups, sauces, gravies, seasonings, meat & poultry marinades & pumps, and flavor systems
  • Visit key customers and prospective accounts with sales for culinary flavor selling and demos

Must have the following background:

  • BS Degree in culinary arts, chemistry, food science or related field required
  • 15+ years of experience in flavor development experience
  • Experience in quality cooking and developing of ingredients and consumable demos
  • Strong leadership, presentation, interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
  • Willing to act in situations with uncertain outcomes making educated decisions with confidence and analysis
  • Proficiency with Office suites, as well as ability & willingness to learn new software applications
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed
